The Coin Galleries: British India, Imperial Coinage

The East India Company's Presidency Series ended in 1835 when the Company unified its coinage and started issuing coins in the British style featuring the bust of the sovereign on the obverse. Then, in 1858, when the British government took over the administration of the EIC's dominions in India and formally named India part of the British Empire, the coinage switched to the Imperial Series.
